Mission Statement
The mission of the F-M
Observatory
is to further science literacy.
With the great appeal of astronomy, it is a natural tool for creating scientific curiosity and reinforcing interest and skills in science.
Starting at the local level, the all volunteer staff supporting the observatory will do all we can to help excite people, especially our K-12 students, to the joys of science and related fields of mathematics and technology. Our goal is to provide ongoing support as a responsible and reliable community resource for science education.

The F-M Observatory is a state-of the art astronomical observatory located on the F-M High School campus at a cost of $150,000. The use of an observatory is a rare opportunity on high school campuses. The observatory will provide all F-M students the experience of celestial viewing, guided by a qualified teaching staff while using the latest equipment.
All classes, programs, and equipment selection will be directed by the school district. Importantly, this state-of-the-art facility will be made available to all residents of the F-M community and students from other school districts. The Foundation strongly believes that this unique experience should be made available to all who are interested.
